Small Things, Great Love

I have tried to save the planet
Broken people everywhere
I have tried to speak and sing of things
But my words just fill the air
I have tried to live beyond my sight
Full of dreams, imaginings
I have tried to give it all away
But it’s harder than it seems

So no matter what I do
What I say or where I go
I’m chasing after vanity
Unless I show

Small things, great love
Or don’t even go at all
Small things, great love
Tearing down dividing walls
The only way to make a change
Growing smaller day by day
Small things, great love

I have fed the famished, hungry
But never learned a name
I have shared the streets with homeless men
And had to look away
Taking boxes down to Goodwill
I have danced with charity
But I’m called to love creation
Not just boast of my good deeds

So lead me down this narrow way
Of pearls and seed and fools
Lost in wonder, found in grace
I’m safe to choose

Small things, great love
Or don’t even go at all
Small things, great love
Tearing down dividing walls
The only way to make a change
Growing smaller day by day
Small things, great love
